Baguio stories

A lot have been said about Baguio. But we'll dig a little deeper about the stories behind it. Like why the streets and parks have American names while Manila has Spanish ones.. why heritage houses and monasteries became haunted.. favorite restos of city folks. And then we start to appreciate the city more.

Museo Kordilyera. Indigenous culture.

Another museum? Yup, Baguio has lots. But this one's new and modern. A venue for research and exhibitions of the social life and culture of the Cordilleras. You know, cerebral stuff. What do you expect? It's inside UP Baguio. These guys think a lot aside from protesting something.. somewhere.

The White House.

I live near this house. One time passing by, I met a group of tourists taking selfies. Me: "Bakit daw ba haunted house ito?" Tourists : "Kasi may white lady daw nagpapakita." Me: "White lady?" Tourists : "Opo, kasi white house nga." Okay. Now the legend has another twist.

Tea House. Baguio party kitchen.

Having a party? Baguio folks go straight to Teahouse. Why cook when you can buy it cheap and ready to go. No hassle. Better go there early during weekends and holidays. Long line. Get a number and wait.

First bomb dropped in WWII was in Baguio.

Yup, the first bomb dropped during WWII was in Baguio. The last one too, when the Japanese fled to our city after being kicked out of Manila by the Americans.
