Baguio stories

A lot have been said about Baguio. But we'll dig a little deeper about the stories behind it. Like why the streets and parks have American names while Manila has Spanish ones.. why heritage houses and monasteries became haunted.. favorite restos of city folks. And then we start to appreciate the city more.

Museo Kordilyera. Indigenous culture.

Another museum? Yup, Baguio has lots. But this one's new and modern. A venue for research and exhibitions of the social life and culture of the Cordilleras. You know, cerebral stuff. What do you expect? It's inside UP Baguio. These guys think a lot aside from protesting something.. somewhere.

The White House.

I live near this house. One time passing by, I met a group of tourists taking selfies. Me: "Bakit daw ba haunted house ito?" Tourists : "Kasi may white lady daw nagpapakita." Me: "White lady?" Tourists : "Opo, kasi white house nga." Okay. Now the legend has another twist.

Good Taste. Baguio peeps take-out favorite.

Do you know where most Baguio folks eat and buy take-outs? This dining mecca was already serving budget meals even before it was in Jollibee's figment of imagination. Oh, have you ever seen a 'dumbwaiter'? Go there and meet him.

The Baguio Longanisa Story.

Longanisa is actually a common breakfast fare all over our country but tourists and even locals found our version better. Or is it really? No idea but in every Panagbenga (except this year, of course), long lines can be seen in our homegrown longanisa vendors.
