In 2017, the city was selected as one of UNESCO's Creative Cities Network as a testament to its vibrant art scene and promotion of art and folk crafts creativity. To celebrate its second year as UNESCO Creative City, the 2019 iBagiw Festival was launched exhibiting over 500 creations of local artists and artisans.. inside the most haunted place in Baguio.
Kidlat Tahimik. Baguio Influential Artist # 2.
Eccentric guy that is a famous Baguio icon that set up Oh My Gulay and Ililikha restos. You'll never know but he is a Wharton MBA grad and a finance guy working in Paris in his younger days. And then one day he saw a movie camera and all bets are off..

Arko Ni Apo. Ben-Hur Villanueva Art Gallery.
Art gallery and workshop of an acclaimed sculptor that made Baguio his home. Also has a quirky cafe that has no menu, broken utensils and a wobbly table. Ow, come on.. This is Baguio.. UNESCO Creative City, remember?

BenCab. Baguio Influential Artist # 1.
BenCab is a famous National Artist that retired in Baguio. During his elementary days, he made a few centavos doing his classmates’ drawing assignments. In high school, he drew portraits of James Dean and Elvis Presley and sold them to schoolmates for 10 pesos. Decades down the way at the peak of his career, his most expensive paintings sold for about a million dollars each. "Paint it and it will come."

Baguio Art Scene. Artists' haven.
What happens when 4 retired artists meet? Yup, drink a couple of beers maybe but I doubt if they talked about their grandchildren though. That happened in 1988 and now Baguio is known as the "Asian Arts Hub" and art capital of the Philippines.

Ili-Likha Artist Village. Art under construction.
Remember Kidlat Tahimik of Oh My Gulay? He founded another artist village cum resto that provides inspiration for Baguio artists and environmental advocates. Food's good, too!
